Overview

The University of Abertay Dundee has some of the most innovative and well-designed buildings in the UK and our Library and Student Centre have set the standard for universities across the UK. The facilities available across our campus are excellent and we pride ourselves that we are ranked very highly in the UK for our investment in IT Facilities. But it's not all work and no play, Dundee has some outstanding student entertainment and sport plays an important part in university life, as our sporting achievements demonstrate. The courses offered by Abertay are aimed at taking students from all backgrounds into rewarding careers. The university prepares graduates with real skills for employment, and has moved beyond offering traditional academic subjects. Working closely with local, national and international businesses ensures Abertay's degrees are tailored to industry demands.
Being a student at Abertay is a rewarding experience. Our halls of residence are of the highest quality and a place in university accommodation is given to all first year students who register by the deadline. New accommodation is planned for 2008 and has proximity to the campus, en suite facilities and Internet access as its main priority.
We welcome students coming from college. Many of our students join us through this route and go on to achieve great success in their studies and careers. You can expect to see many international students in the city too. Over 17% of our students are from countries outside of Europe including India, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Pakistan.

Accomodation

Students new to Abertay Dundee normally look for somewhere affordable, comfortable and within daily travelling distance of the University. There are a variety of different types of student residential accommodation, either privately owned or directly leased by the University. Staying in any of the University of Abertay’s halls of residence means that you can look forward to living in modern, comfortable surroundings will all the facilities you need to make your stay enjoyable.
The University’s five self-catering residences offer a wide range of high quality accommodation. The size of the accommodation varies from single bedsits to multi-occupancy flats, and it is all located within easy walking or travelling distance to the University.
The self-catering flats are furnished and complete with standard kitchen facilities. There are now a significant number of self-catering flats available with en-suite facilities. You can have the added peace of mind of knowing that when you are staying in university accommodation there is a 24-hour campus security service and an on-call caretaker. Alloway Halls, where many of our younger students stay, also has a resident caretaker on-site.

Campus

The University is conveniently located on a city centre campus, with all of its buildings within a quarter of a mile of each other. Shops, recreational facilities and the main bus and train stations are but a short walk away.
The main buildings, Old College, Kydd Building, Student Centre and Hannah Maclure Centre are in the Bell Street complex grouped around the University's outstanding award-winning library.
There is always a busy atmosphere around the Abertay campus, as students come and go to lectures, meet with staff, study for exams, and attend tutorials and seminars.

Location

The University of Abertay Dundee is located in the historic city of Dundee the fourth largest city in Scotland. Today, Dundee is promoted as the City of Discovery, in honour of Dundee's history of scientific activities and of the RRS Discovery of Robert Falcon Scott's Antarctic exploration vessel, which was built in Dundee and is now berthed in the city harbour. Biomedical and technological industries have arrived since the 1980s, and the city now accounts for 10% of the United Kingdom's digital-entertainment industry. Dundee has two universities—the University of Dundee and the University of Abertay Dundee.

Health centre

The University of Abertay Dundee has a health centre will fully trained staff who will contact the NHS in severe emergencies.
