Ranking

The Manchester Metropolis University was ranked 90 by the Times with a 72% student satisfaction and 19.7 student to staff ratio. More than a third of the work entered into the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. In addition, the University trains more teachers than any other and has launched a Centre for Urban Education to help expand its expertise.

International

Manchester Metropolitan Univerity’s dedicated student services team offers international students career advice, counselling, learning support, and chaplaincy. If students need help with any aspect of their English language, from writing a report to communicating with their supervisor or seminar group, year-round English Language Support for International Students can help. Support is available throughout the year in the form of classes and individual consultations. Many Manchester Metropolitan University International staff speak several languages and, having spent time in different countries, are uniquely placed to understand your needs as an international student. The International team also provides international students with everything from social events to advice on day-today living in the UK. They will even meet new students when they arrive in the UK. If they fly into Manchester International Airport, there will be a team to greet them and transport them to their accommodation.

 Health Care

International students following a course lasting 6 months or more, and all students from EU countries, are eligible to obtain free health care from the National Health Service from the beginning of the course, as are their spouse and children - but NOT visiting relatives. They need to take a letter of enrolment from the University to register with a doctor near where they live.
If the course  is less than 6 months students should take out health care insurance, unless they are from an EU country or a country with a reciprocal health arrangement for free health care.

Location

Located both in the dynamic city of Manchester and in the more relaxed campuses of nearby Cheshire, both locations offer outstanding study, leisure, sport, social and entertainment facilities, as well as excellent accommodation.
Manchester Metropolitan University  is located close to the centre of the thriving cosmopolitan city with an eclectic mix of coffee shops, theatres, museums, clothes shops, shopping centres, café bars, pubs, clubs and towering apartment blocks. Located in the beautiful English countryside, Manchester Metropolitan University is 58 kilometres south of Manchester. There is a great choice of shopping, exciting nightlife, quality theatre, world-class sporting events and outdoor pursuits. Manchester Metropolitan University students enjoy all the advantages of being part of a large and varied university, but do so in a campus environment that offers a sense of community, security and easy access to local towns.
Manchester is similar to Chinatown, which features an highly decorative imperial arch. Another is Canal Street, Manchester’s ‘gay village’ and one of the liveliest and most exciting places to go out in the UK. As well as dazzling nightlife, the city offers culture and attractions aplenty. There are world-class museums and famous comedy clubs, ballet and opera, theatre and international cinema, and exhibitions on everything from the future of cities to the history of punk rock. Manchester also boasts legendary sporting venues, including the hallowed turf of Old Trafford and the City of Manchester Stadium.
Then there are quirkier destinations. Oxford Road’s wealth of student-friendly shops, eateries and bars make it a popular destination for undergraduates. Rusholme is a brightly lit strip of over 150 Asian businesses just two miles from the centre of Manchester. Sometimes known as the Curry Mile, it features the highest concentration of eating establishments in Europe.
Getting to see all these places is never difficult. The city boasts the busiest bus route in Europe. Although it runs conveniently through the heart of the city, its popularity has probably got something to do with the fact there are free city centre shuttle buses linking the mainline railway stations to the shopping centre and inexpensive bus travel around the city.
