Overview

Specialising in the liberal arts, Lampeter has strong academic traditions in teaching and research dating from 1822. Located in rural Wales, our beautiful and enriching environment fosters a supportive and caring community where student satisfaction is a priority. Location

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is based on two campuses in South West Wales: the Carmarthen Campus in Carmarthenshire and the Lampeter Campus in the county of Ceredigion.
South West Wales is a beautiful area in which to live and work.  Bustling market towns are surrounded by a mixture of hills and rolling countryside, providing a stimulating environment and many opportunities for outdoor recreation.  The sea is never far away offering both sandy and rocky beaches, coastal inlets, and excellent walking.
Also within easy reach of the University are Wales’ three National Parks: the Brecon Beacons Snowdonia, and the Pembrokeshire Coast. With country parks, smaller nature reserves, woodlands and designated areas of outstanding natural beauty, clean rivers and beaches, the area is a favourite with those who enjoy the outdoors.
Local tourist attractions include the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Aberglasney Gardens, the Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mines, a National Wetlands Centre, and a number of attractions parks including Oakwood. The area is also full of archaeological and historical sites such as the Cistercian abbey at Strata Florida and nearby Teifi Pools. The wealth of natural and cultural resources in the local area is an extremely valuable teaching resource that is used extensively for fieldtrips, visits and performances.

Accomodation

The Lampeter campus is fortunate in having little difficulty in accommodating its students with about 60% living in University accommodation on campus. Those who prefer to live in the town or in the surrounding countryside and villages can usually find suitable shared houses or cottages. We can accommodate all first year students on campus with many rooms available for second and third years.
The accommodation at Carmarthen all located on the main campus. We are fortunate to be able to accommodate the vast majority of first year students in catered Halls of Residence. Second, third year and postgraduate students are able to choose our en-suite self-catering flats.
Our relatively small campus ensures our students benefit from a close community atmosphere; excellent sports and leisure facilities are also located on site.
Located to the west of the county town of Carmarthen the University campus enjoys good access, with the M4 close at hand, a mainline railway station in Carmarthen itself and an international airport within one hour's drive at Cardiff.

Health Service

The Department of Health recommends that all students must register with a GP at University as soon as they arrive.
The Student Health Nurse, Fiona Parkins is a graduate nurse practitioner and works at Lampeter Doctors’ Surgery during and out of term time. Students can see her every weekday morning from Monday to Friday, and it is recommended that they arrive at the surgery at 9am, as queues can be quite lengthy. Fiona is also a qualified counsellor, family planning nurse, and sexual health nurse, (clinic  Monday afternoon).
