University of Lincoln


Overview

Lincoln, based in central England, initially concentrated on social sciences but now offers a wide range of courses. The university has more than 8000 students in and around Lincoln. It was the first university to win a Charter Mark for exceptional service.

Ranking

Lincoln was ranked 62nd in the Times Good University ranking 2011.

Services for International Students

The University of Lincoln provides a special welcome service for international students which involves picking up arriving students from the airport and driving them to their accommodation. The programme also includes acclimatizing students to the UK providing help with language courses, bank and health services and advice about travel or excursions.

Accommodation

Situated on Campus and in close walking distance to the city centre, the Student Village provides 17 buildings of self catered apartments totalling 1037 furnished single bedrooms mostly with en-suite shower and toilet. All rooms in the courts are fitted with a wash hand basin.
Each apartment is provided with kitchen/dining facility fully fitted with cookers, fridge, microwaves, kettle, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, and mop and bucket. A coin operated launderette is located on campus for the use of resident students.
The Student Village is accessible and the university is dedicated to accommodate student needs. As part of Student Services, the University has a dedicated team, the University Disability Service, who are here to advise and assist students.

Campus

Lincoln has several campuses the main one being Brayford pool which has had 100 million pounds invested in it over the last ten years.  The others are all unique. Cathedral Quarter has a long history and the area is scattered with archaeological sites dating as far back as Roman periods.  Riseholme Park has been designated as the 2012 Olympic training camp for equestrian sports. Hull and Holbeach are both modern none residential campuses which offer high quality learning courses to students and those who are also involved in full time employment. All are located either centrally or short ten minute walks from the nearest station.

Location

The towns of Lincoln, Hull, Holbeach and Riseholme are all located in Central England along the A1 motorway, which connects London to Edinburugh. Lincoln itself is a cathedral city with a population of over 120,000
