Overview

Queen Margaret University (formerly Queen Margaret University College and Queen Margaret College) is a Modern University located in Musselburgh, near Edinburgh in Scotland. It is named after Saint Margaret, wife of King Malcolm III of Scotland.
Queen Margaret has a proud history of achievement and progress extending for over a century. Founded in 1875, the institution has always been driven by the highest ideals and purposes, focusing on contributing in practical ways to improving the quality of human life and serving the community. Their staffs are dedicated to delivering vocational and professional learning and specialising in research which is of value to the community and enhances people’s lives. In January 2007, Queen Margaret was granted full university title, resulting in a change of name from ‘Queen Margaret University College’ to ‘Queen Margaret University’ and confirming the institution’s long established position as a university level institution.
Queen Margaret University is committed to providing thoroughly relevant teaching and research. The research is focused on making a real practical impact on everyday life, and the courses are designed to produce well prepared, well rounded and flexible graduates.

Location

Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, is amongst one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world. It blends impressive architecture and a rich history and culture with a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere.
For students, Edinburgh has lots to offer; libraries, galleries, museums, cinemas, shops, clubs, pubs, restaurants, concert venues, theatres, a wide range of sports facilities and great transport links.
Throughout the year, Edinburgh comes alive with various cultural festivals. In the summer, The Edinburgh International Festival brings music, dance, opera and theatre to the city.

Campus

The Campus is situated on the east side of Edinburgh, by Musselburgh. The campus is positioned between Musselburgh Station and Newcraighall, home of the Fort Kinnaird shopping complex.
Musselburgh is a pretty coastal town and is East Lothian’s largest and rapidly expanding town.
Musselburgh has a great deal to offer students: a theatre, a sports centre with swimming pool, numerous supermarkets and shops, a racecourse, two golf courses, a harbour, a beach, restaurants, pubs, a public library, riverside walks, a pitch and putt course, a bowling green, a public park and a museum.
The new campus is only a short walk from Fort Kinnaird, a vast outdoor shopping complex which incorporates most high street chain stores, numerous restaurants, a 12 screen cinema and a bowling alley.
