Overview

Keele University was the first new UK university of the twentieth century, established with degree giving powers in 1949 as the University College of North Staffordshire. University status, as the University of Keele, followed in 1962. Keele University was founded to promote interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary scholarship and makes a distinctive contribution to higher education by emphasising the strength of a broad educational programme. Most Keele University students take Dual Honours degree courses where they study two subjects with equal weight for their degree. Keele University also offers a range of Single Honours degrees.
Keele University is the UK's largest integrated campus university and occupies a 617 acre estate with extensive woods, lakes and beautiful parkland. The central feature of the estate is the stunning 19th century Keele Hall, registered by English Heritage as Grade II.
Keele University has a rural setting but is also on the edge of busy city life, giving our students the best of both worlds.

Accommodation

There are four halls of residence. Barnes, Lindsay (including The Oaks and Holly Cross) and Horwood are located on the main campus, while The Hawthorns is just outside the university gates in Keele village itself. Together, these halls provide accommodation for approximately 70% of the full-time students.

Campus

Keele University is a campus university (a British term for a University situated on one site - with student accommodation, teaching and research facilities, and leisure activities all together) located near Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. The University occupies a 617 acre (2.5 km²) rural campus close to the village of Keele and houses a Science Park and a conference centre

Health centre

There is a full range of on-campus Health facilities at Keele University with doctors, nurses and dentists. All students have full access to the health centre and all health care fees are fully covered by the National Health Service for full time students.

Location

Keele University is conveniently located in the North Midlands, under two hours from London and Leeds and one hour from Manchester and Birmingham. Keele University students come from across the world and all over the UK.
